David Lemmon knew he would one day become a professional artist by the age
of five. From his very first drawings and watercolors, to his vibrant oil
paintings of today, David has always exhibited a passion for making
beautiful pictures with attention to light and color. David was born in New
Mexico and raised throughout the Western United States, where he developed a
love for the natural beauty of the outdoors. He has studied with some of the
great artists of Colorado, Idaho, and Utah, including Leon Parson, Robert
Barrett, Michael Malm, and William Whitaker. He received a Bachelor of Fine
Arts degree in Illustration from Brigham Young University in 2004. He and
his wife Deborah currently live in UT with their three children.
“I
have always loved the way art can freeze a moment in time, not in the
lifeless way a camera snapshot does, but with human emotion and memory
infused into every brush stroke. We know that at the subatomic level,
everything is vibrating dance of energy. One of my goals is to express this
dance of light and energy within my paintings.
I
deeply admire the great artists of the late nineteeth century including John
Singer Sargent, William Merrit Chase, John Waterhouse, Anders Zorn,
and many others. These artists were trained in realism, and also learned to
see and paint in an impressionistic way. This way of painting excites the
eye and enlivens the heart. What better way to celebrate everlasting love
than to bring this same kind of passion and energy to my own art.”
